GPO News article: British Grand Prix Sprint Race

Here is the full article about the events of the GPO sprint series British Grand Prix. The actual written report was huge this time (in the very best way) so the font size had to be reduced to fit all of the text into the document. So as a result you will see that the image, when clicked on, will go slightly larger than previous. Thanks to Nick Oldenhuis for a superb article and thanks to all of the sprint series drivers for giving us such a great race to write about. Enjoy.

Team News: Millenium Racing Preview German GP

After a break of six races, Millenium Racing and Kammann are returning to the grid for the German GP in Hockenheim 2010. The team tests so far are looking promising and the drivers feel very comfortable in the car. But the team is clever enough to not underestimate the other teams and their drivers. Even Millenium Racing team-chief Jermaine Venhorst sounds fortunate.

Team-chief Jermaine Venhorst: “Finally we can race in Hockenheim, it was not sure if Kammann can do this GP but now we are happy to see him back in the car, even if it is maybe only for one race. But still the team wants to win this race and we are working hard to reach that.”

Jan-Moritz Kammann: “I’m very happy to get the chance to sit in this car again. This is my home GP so I’m jubilant to go to the track and go racing again here in this wonderfull series. Hopefully the homecrowd will cheer for the german drivers and also for me, but I think the atmosphere will be brilliant.”

Team News: Red 5 Racing Set for GPO Debut

Red 5 Racing have been granted entrance to GP-O both in the Challenge and Sprint competitions.

Co-Owner and driver Gavin Thomas stated “We are very pleased to be involved in such a prestigious series. The abilities of our drivers will be stretched to the limit, but that’s what you want as a driver is to be pushed.”

On the subject of the second seat Thomas was happy to confirm the signing of a pre-contract agreement with his co-owner and good friend Wayne Mullins.

“One thing is for sure; Wayne has been competing against me for as long as I can remember and this series was an opportunity for us to work together. I personally cannot wait to see the outcome, as when he (Mullins) and I get near a race track, the gloves literally come off and our friendship is set aside!”

Red 5 Racing is not here to make up the numbers, to quote the affable Welshman Thomas: “We’re here to make some waves and to challenge for championship points, anything less would be disappointing!”

Only time will tell whether R5R can mount a serious championship challenge.

NEW LOOK NEWS: GPO gets a facelift

After some work the news reports for GPO will be getting a dramatic facelift as we strive to make GPO a more visually striking and appealing place to visit. The upcoming race previews and race reports will take on a new look and be uploaded in a visual magazine style presentation along with images of the key race moments.

The one included here is an example of the work and simply utilises the excellent report written by Malcolm Rice that eventually became the audio for the highlights video. Part of the article is missing as this would be visible on a second page that will be created.

We hope you enjoy this new development, please leave your comments and we will return with more soon. Please click the image for an enlarged pop up screen. Thank you.

Silverstone. New, but is it better?

This year will venue a brand new lay-out at the Silverstone track. Some corners were sacrificed to benefit the Motor racers safety, and were replaced by fast sweeping corners and a hairpin. Sceptics were weary about these changes, because Silverstone was perfect the way it was, according to them. Are these changes really that good? GPO Press had the opportunity to walk around the new track and  experience it.

GPO Secures Machinima Partnership

It is with great pleasure that I announce GPO’s new partnership with Machinima.

As some of you may know, Machinima is the premier online gaming network, receiving over 108 million video views each month across the Machinima network. Videos will also be uploaded onto the Machinima YouTube channels which hold well over 1 million subscribers.

The deal will see Grand Prix Online having exclusive sole rights within the sim-racing community to upload race highlights, reviews and track guides to the Machinima network that will ultimately see GPO gain huge exposure with the online gaming community.

This partnership is a great coup not only for GPO, but for the teams of GPO both now and in the future, both league and team sponsors can look forward to huge exposure via this newly formed partnership.

We will begin submitting videos to Machinima shortly. We look forward to seeing you at the Spanish GP held on 8th/9th May in order to give us some great new footage to use.

As usual, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact either myself or one of my fellow admins.
